Here is a snippet from tonight’s work on my WIP. This novella just rolled over 20,000 words tonight. 20k was my original goal, but because of an added character, the length has stretched a little.
About 75% of the way done. The end is around the corner soon, and way ahead of schedule, which is nice. I have to have this one done by June, so there should be plenty of time to edit it a little here and there before the next steps.
Normally I have very specific reasons for including a song in a writing playlist. But I still can’t figure out why this 2Pac song is in my current WIP playlist. No matter how hard I think about it, and listen to it to try and remember the idea, there’s nothing. The song doesn’t match the rest of the music at all, and it doesn’t seem to be associated with any idea I had, otherwise my memory bank would have withdrew that idea. But man… why?!
And don’t get me wrong, I like this song, I just don’t know why it’s here.
I’m rewriting two old short stories as one for my pal, Philip Neale. He has a website where he showcases work from up-and-coming, indie authors such as ourselves. He’s currently having trouble getting folks to submit, so please consider giving him a shout out. He showcases your work for a single month, and spreads the link around social media land during that time.
My story is about a man, Ned, who has something against mirrors. That’s all I’ll say on the matter for now. It’s a mystery/horror piece. We plan to put it up for January, which means I need to get on it.
I recently had some major breakthroughs with my detective series of novellas. And it all started with me finally discovering my nemesis to pair with my heroine. His name is Renoir. And I even have some sweet visual inspiration to share.
I’ve had this in my drafts for some time on my blog, shame on me. It’s the first three chapters to a short novella I’ve been working on, off and on, for several years.
The story revolves around a timid fellow, named Danny Draper, who does alien and UFO research in his spare time. In this little story, he makes his first excursion to Roswell, New Mexico. Once there, it doesn’t take him long to find himself tangled in a bit of mystery.
Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comments here, or at the blog link. And what do you think? Do you believe in extraterrestrial life?
